One thing that is obvious about YDI from this retrospective is that they were much more about the attitude than the music. There are moments of brilliance, from the savage guitar work on Get Up and Fight/Zombie Youth to the sludgy, riff driven Bloodletting; but the majority of A Place in the Sun/Black Dust is rough and ready.
